Vol. 4: Rudy Wicaksono (Wicked Suffer)

On the 4th instalment of Heart Attack, we have Rudy Wicaksono. Coming all the way from Jogjakarta, he’s also primarily known as the lead member of Wicked Suffer, Jogja’s very own force of nature. On this episode, he will be sharing to us his current favorite jams. From oi, punk, hardcore and all the way to post-punk, Rudy will take us on an intimate journey to decode the mysterious nature of punk, where everything is sounded tribal, barbaric & brutally honest. These bands aren’t even from the 80s nor 00s, but the way they capture their specific sound is inevitably exquisite. Jazz Gunung 2014: Alms the Earth, Through Harmony

Through the theme “Sedekah Bumi Lewat Bebunyi”, Jazz Gunung 2014 will be held on 20 and 21 June. As the name implies, this event was held in the highlands, open stage precisely Java Banana Bromo, Probolinggo, East Java. Jazz Gunung is an international music concert featuring ethnic jazz composition, held every year in the mountains. The musicians performing on stage roofed open sky and a beautiful natural background. A harmonious blend of music, nature, and human beings so as to create the beauty of jazz and fetchingly mountain. Jazz Gunung was initiated by three people who are very concerned about the world of art, namely Sigit Pramod, a banker and photographer who loves Bromo and jazz music; Butet Kartaredjasa, a versatile artist; and Djaduk Ferianto, music artists are often invited to perform abroad brings world music with a strong Indonesian characteristic. Since 2009, Jazz Gunung held on the outdoor stage at Java Banana Bromo Lodge, Cafe & Gallery, Village Wonotoro, Sukapura subdistrict, Probolinggo, with a beautiful backdrop of the mountains of Bromo Tengger Semeru. Jazz Gunung organized as a gateway to the heart of freedom of the soul, the natural wisdom of the mountains that has become a symbol of indigenous culture in the archipelago. It is hoped that present jazz music as a force capable of promoting dialogue that enriches humanity Indonesian civilization so that peace may serve as a spirit of jazz itself.

The Life of a Football Fan with Pangeran Siahaan

A man who dons many hats as a football analyst, writer, commentator as well as being a budding political thinker, Pangeran Siahaan is rapidly becoming one of Indonesia’s dominant young voices. Chandra Drews paid the man a visit to chat about his work, his views on local and international football, the beautiful yet complex world of football fandom and his near escape from serious harm in Bandung.

Marsh Kids – Inclination

In our interview with Ade Paloh, he mentioned that Marsh Kids is planning to release their debut full length this summer (titled the Many Failings of Bugsy Moonblood), and last weekend they just released the first single. Titled "Inclination", the music seemed to have been penned by Ade as his vocals takes lead of the song. The lyrics of confusion and soul-searching is complemented very well by the instrumentation, particularly the synths and lead guitar. The synth envelopes the song and is occasionally percussive, adding an extra layer of rhythm, while the lead guitar does a great job being a transition between parts. After listening to this single, we are really looking forward to hearing what Marsh Kids has in store for us.

Stadium Lebak Bulus

Lebak Bulus, once the home of Jakarta’s favorite football team, will be demolished, and it looks like it will be soon. The sporting center will be torn down to make room for a Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit depot. This Focus intoduces the the stadium and explains why it is one of the most revered place for Indonesian football.
