The Wisdom of Indonesian Cuisine with William Wongso

William Wongso is name that is well known in Indonesia's culinary scene. His love for our local cuisine developed by a curiosity and eagerness to learn from local chefs from every corner of Indonesia, he now shares his knowledge by developing several programs, including ones in Almond Zuchinni, a school based in South Jakarta. We had a chance to visit William Wongso in his school where talked about Indonesian food and its presence in the international stage.

The Jakarta International Photo Summit – JIPS #3: City of Waves

The photography triennale Jakarta International Photo Summit (JIPS for short) returns this December featuring an exhibition by 89 Indonesian and International photographers. Titled City of Waves, this third JIPS focuses on the global maritime culture, and will be held at Galeri Nasional, Jakarta. Aside from the exhibition that will run from the 5th until the 28th of December, there are a slew of discussions and film screenings, take a look at the schedule below or visit our EVENTS page to see what is going on. The sea brings news in its own way. - Screening: Fitzcarraldo Sunday, 28 December 2014/15:00 Fitzcarraldo is a 1983 film directed by Werner Herzog. It tells the story of a quest undertaken by Fitzgerald, adventurer and opera lover, to build an opera house deep inside the Peruvian forest. To fulfill his dream he would need a great amount of money. So Fitzgerald attempted many things to raise the funds needed, asuch as acquiring a steamer to sail the Amazon, in order to transport rubber from one river to the next.
