Popularitas genre Heist belakangan ini adalah salah satu penunjuk (atau pengingat?) bahwa manusia adalah makhluk dengan insting primal yang membuat kita tertarik dengan skema penipuan yang intriguing. Anime ini bisa menjadi jawaban atas insting primal tadi. Rasanya agak jarang menemukan genre heist diolah dalam ranah anime, tapi serial ini berhasil melakukannya dengan baik. Sejatinya twist-nya sederhana, cuma dieksekusi dengan baik, membuat kita ingin nonton segera sampai habis. Serial ini membuat Time Heist terasa seperti telenovela. Jika nanti ada versi komik, sepertinya juga akan seru buat dibaca.

Ini series favorit gw tahun ini karena British, Gervais, dan dark. Belum sempet nonton series lain lagi. Kalau nggak salah mau produksi season baru ya? Pernah liat tweet Gervais, CMIIW. Durasi tiap episode pendek jadi gw pernah nonton 1 season dalam 1 hari aja. Tapi mendingan kalo mau nonton pelan-pelan aja sih.

Selain ini, gw ga sabar mau nonton finale dari Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Description:

So I started watching this because I’ve been a fan of Michaela Coel during her Chewing Gum era (also a v good and funny watch), and saw a lot of great reviews on Twitter. This show is created, written, co-directed, produced, and also starred by Coel herself and that is already amazing on its own! It tells a story about Arabella (Coel) who seeks to rebuild her life after being raped while also trying hard to remember what had happened during that fateful night.

For some this series might be too triggering as it does touch upon a very sensitive subject and isn’t scared to show the reality that these victims faced. The way it presents itself is very nuanced and doesn’t necessarily give everyone a “happy” ending but that’s life! Either way, Michaela Coel is a genius.

For anyone who’s into dark comedy, you’re gonna love this series on Netflix! This show can make you laugh in one moment and then bring tears to your eyes in the next. All in all, it’s a heartbreakingly beautiful show.

Veep

Description:

Veep was one of those TV shows that has always been on my watchlist, tapi selalu lupa ditonton karena kesalip series-series baru, sampe akhirnya kemarin mulai kehabisan tontonan, dan jadi agak nyesel for being late on the Veep train.

Ini adalah satu tv series yang berhasil bisa bikin gue ngakak di setiap episode meskipun dengan tema besar yang cenderung serius, yaitu politik. Semua character-nya bisa complimenting each other very very well, dan bisa merepresentasikan berbagai jenis politisi (dari entry-level sampai senior) dengan sangat baik. Pas nonton langsung paham kenapa seri ini banyak banget dapet awards. Berkaca dari kejadian-kejadian politik global saat ini, bikin pas selama nonton jadi mikir “oh mungkin memang dibalik kemegahannya, pemerintah bisa se-clueless ini ya.”  Oh, and also, LOVE the Gary-Selina dynamic.
