With how art became more essential in the modern society, curation as a crucial element in art-making also grow into a critical subject. We talk to one of the most honored curators in the country, Jim Supangkat about the development of art curation in Indonesia along with its relation to the nation's history. As one of the Aku Diponegoro curator, we talked to Mr. Supangkat about the exhibition and his insights into the Indonesian art world.

One of the most memorable quote from Pangeran Diponegoro is: “I decline being a king in the land of Java by the blessing of colonialist”, a blatant declaration of rebellion against colonialism. This is the kind of character that made him became one of the most honored hero of Indonesia. Goethe Institut in Indonesia made a tribute to him with the Aku Diponegoro exhibition. We visited the exhibition to take a look at the history of him and his rebel spirit.
