Through the theme “Sedekah Bumi Lewat Bebunyi”, Jazz Gunung 2014 will be held on 20 and 21 June. As the name implies, this event was held in the highlands, open stage precisely Java Banana Bromo, Probolinggo, East Java.
Jazz Gunung is an international music concert featuring ethnic jazz composition, held every year in the mountains. The musicians performing on stage roofed open sky and a beautiful natural background. A harmonious blend of music, nature, and human beings so as to create the beauty of jazz and fetchingly mountain.
Jazz Gunung was initiated by three people who are very concerned about the world of art, namely Sigit Pramod, a banker and photographer who loves Bromo and jazz music; Butet Kartaredjasa, a versatile artist; and Djaduk Ferianto, music artists are often invited to perform abroad brings world music with a strong Indonesian characteristic.
Since 2009, Jazz Gunung held on the outdoor stage at Java Banana Bromo Lodge, Cafe & Gallery, Village Wonotoro, Sukapura subdistrict, Probolinggo, with a beautiful backdrop of the mountains of Bromo Tengger Semeru.
Jazz Gunung organized as a gateway to the heart of freedom of the soul, the natural wisdom of the mountains that has become a symbol of indigenous culture in the archipelago. It is hoped that present jazz music as a force capable of promoting dialogue that enriches humanity Indonesian civilization so that peace may serve as a spirit of jazz itself.
The Kuda is the anomaly of Indonesian Punk. Their music is a strange combination of rock ‘n roll, 70’s tunes, garage rock with absurd lyric. Combine that with raw (often humorous) fast performances, then, you’ll get a proper portrayal of this Bogor based group. This group has already spread their proto tunes on several releases. Released by Yesnowave in May 2011, their first album “Misteri Torpedo” set the foundation for The Kuda, gaining attention from local music lovers. Followed by Split Album with Gangrena Surf (Chile) and the Night Stalkers (French), contributed to PunkAID (2012) Aceh Calling compilation. They also collaborate with Ruang Rupa’s artist on an art project in Australia. They also share a song on the “Rocket Rain” movie soundtrack.
And on the last day of May, The Kuda comes back with their EP. Titled “Duka Kuda”, this EP contains 5 songs with one cover song from The Stooges. This EP will be released on limited c-30 cassette package. This package will also include a booklet from their collaboration with Ruang Rupa’s artists. The Kuda will be performing at this launching event with DJ Nick Hefber, Seaside and Bequiet as their opening.
