Description:

Di situasi seperti sekarang ini, kadang yang bisa kita lakukan adalah untuk menertawakan keadaan. Dan untuk itu, “Ugly Americans” adalah series yang bisa menjadi teman. Series ini berbasis pada kisah Mark, seorang social worker yang hidup di New York era post-apokaliptik, dimana warga kota hidup berdampingan dengan zombie, alien, hingga plain old setan.

Dibikin oleh salah satu penulis “The Simpsons”, “Ugly Americans” adalah serial komedi bikinan Comedy Central yang berusia pendek, cuma dua season, tapi kalau yang pernah nonton pasti bisa mengapresiasi. Inti ceritanya ada pada perjuangan Mark untuk tetap positif di situasi yang jelas tidak sedang baik-baik saja. Persis seperti kita sekarang.

Description:

Initially gue mau milih “Kingdom”, tapi sepertinya the idea of getting chased by a “disease” that turns humans into zombie is a bit depressing. So, gue memilih “The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes” untuk menemani masa-masa social distancing ini. 

As reflected by the title of the show, serial dokumenter ini membahas tentang rumah terkeren dan terindah di dunia. Setiap episode akan membahas rumah dari tema tertentu, bisa dari lingkungan atau lokasi rumah. Host dari docu series ini, award winning architect Piers Taylor dan aktris serta property developer Caroline Quentin, bakal membawa kita ke rumah tersebut. Dengan personality mereka yang upbeat dan insightful, mereka tidak hanya “membedah” desain dengan interview pemilik dan arsitek rumah, mereka menginap di rumah tersebut buat memberikan gambaran kehidupan sehari-hari di rumah.

Karena serial ini light, fun, dan aesthetically pleasing banget, menurut gue serial ini juga cocok buat nemenin work from home. Serial ini bisa jadi background noise or entertainment biar gak bosen dan kesepian saat kerja sendirian di rumah atau kosan.

Serial yang awalnya ada di BBC ini sekarang udah tersedia di Netflix. Udah ada dua season, jadi sepertinya cukup buat menemani masa-masa social distancing. Btw, cek juga deh Instagram mereka. Feed mereka cakep banget!

AAAAAA! Gw nemu serial ini di Instagram explore. Terpapar scene Ander dan Omar. Pas nonton, ternyata seru banget! Hot sih lebih tepatnya (cek Instagram Aron Piper yang jadi Ander). Intinya serial ini bahas pembunuhan di sebuah sekolah dengan modus crime of passion.

Tanggal 13 Maret kemarin baru rilis season 3. Jadi coba tonton semuanya ya.

Description:

There’s no better way spending self-isolation during times like these than through laughing your ass off until your stomach hurts and you can’t even laugh anymore. “Broad City” would give you exactly that. You’d find yourself watching a full season in one go because it’s just That Good. Their episodes are short, but they’re completely relatable, messy and funny as hell. Sometimes you’ll feel like Abbie and sometimes you’ll relate more to Ilana, and that’s exactly how I felt. After 3 episodes in, I bet you’ll be singing their intro music 24/7.

Description:

Di tengah krisis seperti ini, I couldn’t help but ask myself WWLRD? “What Would Logan Roy Do?”. This show has humour, it has drama, compelling characters! It’s just a good show to watch. It masks itself to be this serious business-ey show, but it really is just the office on steroids. What I love most about this show is its really good writing. It has some of the most iconic one liners, mostly from idol / legend Roman Roy, Siobhan’s amazing boss bitch energy as well as the complexities of hating / being in competition with / loving your family, all at the same time. 

One other amazing thing to note: the theme song is SO GOOD, made by the one and only Nicholas Britell (“Moonlight”, “If Beale Street Could Talk”)

Description:

Remind yourself that Tom Hanks is a gift from the Lord Almighty. Keep praying for Tom Hanks and wife for their full recovery. Maybe slip in a prayer for Meg Ryan as well–hope she’s doing alright with her life.

Also, You’ve Got Mail is the best Nora Ephron movie ever. I would go on to say that it is the best movie ever, and I think Mindy Kaling would agree with me. This movie will heal you.

Description:

“It’s all Good man” 

The infamous lawyer returns and will be up for more shenanigans up his sleeve. With S4 ending, we get to see the progression of how Jimmy McGill gradually transforms into Saul Goodman. In S5 I’m more comfortable with associating Jimmy with Saul, as he’s changed and past the good guy point. Definitely binge this one!

– The Tale of the Deadman’s Float – one of the scariest episode of all time. Episode ini sempet bikin gue trauma ga mau berenang for a long period of time.
– The Tale Of The Midnight Madness – featuring a vampire as the main villain, back when the Cullens were still irrelevant.
– The Tale Of Laughing In The Dark – might be one of the main reasons why 90s kids are afraid of clowns.

Description:

It’s Korean GOT meets Walking Dead meets The Strain. Since it’s about a zombie virus, there are many similarities that you can draw from this show to what we’re experiencing at the moment. Thrive in cold weather, check. Highly contagious and spread like wildfire, check. No cold-like symptoms though. Anyhow, this is a good show for fans of those 3 shows. Enough conspiracies to keep the suspense and plenty of fast-running zombies (World War Z) to keep you on your toes. Oh, it also has Bae Doona who is a total bae.
