In Dervish Ziya Azazi will again perform the dervish dance that was originally developed by the Sufistic
poet Jalaluddin Rumi along with the Mevlevi Order. Ziya explores the sacred basic movements and philosophy of the dance for a more diverse audience.

Ziya Azazi started his study and exploration in the dervish dance in 1999. His works, such as Energy (2012), Ember (2010), Icons (2007), Azab (2005) and Dervish in Progress (2004) have been performed in different festivals, such as Bregenzer Festspiele, Biennale de la Danse, and Dias de Danza. He also has been collaborating with various artists. In 1999 he was awarded a scholarship from Summer Dance Week Vienna (Dance Web) and an award for “The Most Outstanding Dancer of the Year in Austria” from Ballet International Magazine.
