This time will be screening the German-French coproduction: Der Himmel über Berlin.
Their worries and fears have turned the inhabitants of the separated Berlin into lonely souls. Alone and absorbed in thoughts, they struggle with their longings. Only the angels can hear what is going on into the minds of the people. Invisible, they attend the people on their ways, sit down next to them in the subway or slip into their flats. They listen and take heart but in the end they remain voiceless observers of the world.
Wim Wenders turns Berlin into a metaphysic place where loneliness, desperation, love and hope melt into a pathetic and cryptic composition. As a represent of New German Cinema and one of the founders of the Filmpublishing of Authors, he was awarded with the European Film Price as well as with the Price for the Best Direction at the International Film festival Cannes in 1987.
