Reminiscing the merit of Misbach Yusa Biran on one of his biggest contribution to Indonesian film: Sinematek. To understand the current condition of the institution as well as to learn more about the importance of film and archiving for the country's history.
This year, Babibutafilm, Hivos Rosea and Yayasan Cipta Citra Indonesia presented the second instalment of Film Musik Makan. They succeeded in serving a tighter festival with satisfying content. Showing three short movies and one full-length from bright young directors, they successfully maintaiedn the quality of this unique festival.
One of the most memorable quote from Pangeran Diponegoro is: “I decline being a king in the land of Java by the blessing of colonialist”, a blatant declaration of rebellion against colonialism. This is the kind of character that made him became one of the most honored hero of Indonesia. Goethe Institut in Indonesia made a tribute to him with the Aku Diponegoro exhibition. We visited the exhibition to take a look at the history of him and his rebel spirit.
