Things We Like: Favorite Initiatives in The Midst of a Pandemic
Kumpulan inisiatif online yang kami sukai.
“Things We Like” kali ini merupakan edisi khusus.

RULLY SHABARA’S SKETCH
Description:

Quarantine Challenges
Description:
It might sound stupid, but quarantine challenges on Instagram has brightened up my day during this physical distancing phase. In times where we feel bored and almost lose ourselves, turns out a random challenge in Instagram could somehow bring the fun during these hard times. From those workout challenges (which I was tagged but never managed to do it LOL), to Instagram Story templates (have you guys seen ours? It’s so cool that some random peeps copy and claimed it #facts), to that “until tomorrow” photos which forces us to cherish those—what used to be—mundane and normal days, I enjoyed each of them as it could bring a simple joy amidst the frustration of not being able to go outside. Besides it makes Instagram looks more fun and not as “curated” as it has become over these past few years.

I don’t do Netflix Party coz it’s nonsense. Why would anyone chat and watch a film/series at the same time?
I just do regular Netflix. A lot. Thanks to Ghina, I just finished 4 seasons of “Please Like Me” in roughly 2,5 days. Possibly enjoyed too much gay love scenes because the gays in the series are so pretty. Now I’m on “Lovesick”. After this, I might speak English with British accent.
Also I’m a bit dazed coz it’s week 3 of work from home (literally never left home), although I managed to workout every morning and lost 2 kg so far. Anyways, next week my words might be more cynical than this.

Max Siedentopf’ Home Alone Survival Guide
Description:
I’m pretty sure that I’ve featured Max Siedentopf a few weeks Before Corona (yes it’s the new BC) and sadly enough it was about “How To Survive A Deadly Global Virus” which was published in mid-February. And look where we are now!! Anyway, a month later, he has started a new open call for everyone stuck at home. Here’s what it entails: “Together with everyone that’s stuck at home I want to create a survival guide of boredom. Each day i will post a series of instructions, choose the ones you like most and turn it into something fun.”
The instructions were random as hell, invent a new meal? Learn to fly? Summon a ghost? Write ‘help’ on your window? But what’s more exciting were the submissions he posted on his insta, people truly are creative in times like these.

Bolshoi Theatre Live Performances
Description:
So before I became the legend I am today, I was a smol ballerina. I had big dreams y’all, but then puberty happened and got body shamed into quitting but WE WON’T GET INTO THAT. The ballet world can be quite vicious, what they depicted in Black Swan isn’t much of an exaggeration – they strive for one thing and one thing only, PERFECTION. But aside from that, to me it’s one of the most beautiful art forms to ever exist.
Anyway, Russians f a lot of things up but their ballerinas are PERFECT. The Bolshoi Theatre is one of or probably THE most prestigious ballet companies in the WORLD. Since dat Rona isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, they’re streaming iconic ballet and opera performances on their YouTube channel. My favorite ballet ever is Swan Lake. There are a lot of other performances of Swan Lake or The Nutcracker or Giselle online, but no one does Swan Lake the way Bolshoi does, astonishingly beautiful. (Apart from English National Ballet’s Swan Lake In The Rounds @ Royal Albert Hall – GODDAMN)
Here’s the schedule:
01.04 – The Tsar’s Bride
04.04 – Marco Spada
07.04 – Boris Godunov
10.04 – The Nutcracker

WEIRD BRITISH ARTS REALITY COMPETITION SERIES!
Description:
(honestly I would’ve written Bon Appetit, but I gotta stop singing the same song over and over man)
Setelah suksesnya The Great British Bake-off, ternyata banyak kompetisi kreatif lain yang datang dari negeri ini! Contohnya: Gardening! Portrait painting! Chocolate making??? And my favorite, Pottery!
Ciri khas setiap acara ini: Tiap episode gak banyak drama antar kontestan yang kesannya dipanjang-panjangin. Kontestannya lumayan diverse, multiple ethnicities and age groups and personalities.
I watch 1-2 episodes at a time, and just laugh at how a silly 70-year-old grandpas from Sussex is working hard to build a wheel-thrown ceramic jug inspired by King Arthur (hope he doesn’t get Coronavirus).
The link here directs you to one of many Youtube channels that upload these episodes, bless them.

Melamun dan Menulis
Description:

Netflix Party
Description:
Awalnya cuma berniat nobar “Julie & Julia” sambil nge-wine bareng para warga budak romcom (shoutout to the other Ephron Slaves), terus jadi lanjut nonton “Someone Great,” because why not. Niatnya Netflix Party malah jadi Crying Party.
