Description:

Minggu lalu topik tentang beauty standards lumayan jadi bahan obrolan. Kebetulan minggu lalu gue gak sengaja nonton video ini karena keluar di suggestion home Youtube. Basically, video ini ngomongin tentang bagaimana internet dan social media telah democratize industri kecantikan dan “memecah” beauty standards yang ada tapi di saat yang bersamaan pressure untuk terlihat “presentable” juga semakin tinggi di perempuan. Dengan penjelasan yang tajam dan kritis, video ini lumayan memberikan perspektif tentang beauty industry dan makna self-acceptance. Bahwa, kalau ternyata ujung-ujungnya perempuan masih dinilai dari fisiknya, sebenarnya perempuan belum benar-benar “merdeka”.

Description:

Sebenarnya ada season baru “Ugly Delicious” dan gw udah nonton juga. Tapi David Chang ya, lo udah tau lah ya dia kayak gimana. Lalu selesai nonton itu, gw cari series terkait makanan lagi di Netflix dan ketemu “Salt Fat Acid Heat” yang dipandu chef Samin Nosrat. Keren sih ini. Fundamental tapi sederhana. Isinya 4 episode yang masing-masing fokus pada 4 elemen berbeda yang dijadikan judul acara. Jadi pengen bisa ngobrol atau interview chef macam Samin atau David. Atau jadi produser acara mereka.

KU RASI RASA

Description:

Berangkat dari ke-bm-an masing-masing anggota Lazy Susan, Parti Gastronomi, dan Whaton House, kami sepakat memutuskan untuk bekerja sama membuat sebuah gelaran yang belum pernah kami lakukan sebelumnya. Ku Rasi Rasa pun hadir, sebuah gelaran yang merayakan budaya kuliner Indonesia. 

Perencanaan event ini memakan waktu cukup lama, dari awal ideation sampai akhirnya matang dan terlaksana. Deg-degan dan stress-nya sih ada banget, kami harus menyiapkan market, bar, pameran, dan dining experience dalam waktu yang bersamaan. Tapi semua pun terbayarkan ketika acara berlangsung, dari awalnya yang gak pede bakal ada yang datang, sampai akhirnya melihat venue yang pelan-pelan packed. 

10/10 would do it again. See you in Ku Rasi Rasa part 2!

Lessons from the Screenplay

Description:

Continuing the theme from my Aaron Sorkin kick last week (which I’m still in): I’m fascinated by the craft of screenwriting. I’ve been watching a lot of explainer videos analyzing the genius scripts of popular movies and damn it sounds DIFFICULT. A screenwriter has to be able to not only think of an IDEA for a story, they also need to be able to imagine (and describe) how that story unfolds through dialogue, character development, and visual world building. Basically they’re writing a brief for the rest of the creative team: the director, editor, actors, costume designers, art directors, music directors, et al.

Here’s a channel that explains this craft to n00bs like you and me. In this video, they’re making the case of how “Gone Girl’s screenwriter and author Gillian Flynn was able to translate her material into a screenplay format very effectively. The book was saturated in inner monologues, and the movie had to be able to communicate all of that subjective perspective while minimizing the amount of voiceovers.  I don’t know if the Ben Affleck junk shot was written in the script, but other than that, look how great the movie turned out! Also, I’m learning so much!

Description:

Oh my god, Hana! What have u gotten me into?!

Long story short, Hana memperkenalkan gue dengan Ayam Penyet Jeletot Bonsar sekitar dua minggu yang lalu, dan gue udah makan ini kira-kira lebih dari 6 kali! Gila! Sambel bawangnya is *emoji 100* and the chicken is super tender that u can even munch on dem bonez (my favorite part!). It’s so goooood believe me, I have almost half of the office that can attest to the brilliance that is Ayam Penyet Jeletot Bonsar. Just a fair warning, it’s VERY spicy and you might have a hard time the morning after. It’s not the healthiest of food, so I’m trying to cut down for now, but I think it’s totally worth a shot!

Nandemonaiya – Radwimps

Description:

Dulu, setelah keluar bioskop dengan muka basah menonton “Kimi no Nawa”, gue punya 1 tujuan pas nyampe rumah, yaitu “dengerin Nandemonaiya sampe gue bosen” dann, 4 tahun kemudian. Gue relapse dan melakukan hal yang sama lagi di minggu ini karena gue abis nonton “Kimi no Nawa” lagi.

Fix kalo dengerin ini, gue auto berkaca-kaca dan sakit(in a good way) dengerinnya 🙁 padahal arti lirik lagunya b aja dan ga ngena banget. Tapi entah kenapa beat lagu sama pembawaannya tuh bisa bikin nangis. Seminggu ini cuma nge-play ini on repeat, dari pas ngantor dan pas di kos sambil nyuci sempak, Dengerinnya ini doang. Sampe fase dimana sekarang mulai stengah bosen dengerinnya dan udah ga berkaca kaca lagi D:

Bought this in KL at a drugstore. Has the best eucalyptus smell so far. At the moment, digging this more than minyak kayu putih. Strong and warming but not too spicy. Edible, supposedly, with warm water. Think it’s available here on online shops. Best for this flu season.
