Phaedra’s Love involves six different characters. The two main characters are Phaedra and Hippolytus. Phaedra is a queen, married to Theseus, but she has not seen her husband since their wedding night. She has a daughter, Strophe, and a step-son,  Hippolytus. Phaedra then falls in love and experiences a sexual passion for Hippolytus, although he does not return her affections. Strophe tries to persuade her mother to forget Hippolytus. Phaedra, at lost of what to do, kills herself in the end.
