Holy crap, it's been like what? a year already? I seriously never thought of having my own music channel until Ken asked me to. Bear in my mind that I love doing this because I dig the whole music-sharing experience which stems from a personal satisfaction of exploring new stuff on daily basis, just like how much I love hearing what my contributors has to offer on their playlist. So from there, Heartattack is born with multiple clicks, endless noises, cuts and guts, the rest is pretty much history.
The discovery factor within punk will always be one of so many key-defining factors on why it survives after all these time. Everytime I browse, or maybe talk to someone about it, I always find out more and more unknown bands or scenes which amazes me so much. But I guess that's the prime beauty of it, there's this some sort of mysterious quality embeeded in that particular world. The familiar feeling you can obtain when you discover rare books at the book fair or something, punk is and will always remain buried in the gutter, waiting to be found. In this 15th installment of Heartattack, I'll share to you some of my personal favorite tracks as well as new discoveries that I've made in the past couple weeks. I probably should stop talking, yeah I thought so. Enjoy!

How's everyone doing today? It's almost approaching the end of April & I still couldn't believe that we've already reached our 14th installment of Heartattack! This time we have a very special guest from Jakarta, Anugrah Esa. Aside from running Doombringer record label as well as playing in numerous punk bands such as Paralerpe and Lock Off (to name a few), Esa's also been involved in the local independent scene for quite sometimes. Whether it's writing zines, organizing shows, putting out records or performing in a band, Esa's love affair with punk and its subsidiaries won't show any sign of slowing down, just yet. So what would be better than to hear it straight from the man himself! It's time for some global chaos takeover!

Anugrah Esa:
This is actually the first time I do mixtape or playlist. It was quite a strange feeling when Jan invited me to do a portion for Heartattack. I’ve been a regular listener of Maximum Rock ‘n Roll Radio, Profane Existence Radio, Sonic Overload Radio as well as other online radio. But to be the one who came up with the playlist, I’d never thought of that until now. So here you go, 21 songs that fill up my shitty mp3 player. These songs pretty much accompany me in the morning while facing a dirty combo of hangover and fucked up traffic, while in the evening it’s another combo of 8 hours of slavery work and another same old shit traffic. I hope you enjoy this until you run out of breath. Play it on maximum volume for maximum output 'cause we all know that your life’s a mess, you piece of shit!
01. INA SUBS - Punks United (Valid CS)
(Still the boots. Spiky hair. Leather Jacket. Drunk everywhere. Jakarta punks from the 90‘s. Lousy vocals, bad english, punk attitude!)

(The title says it all. Japanese pogo punx band. With a drunken vocalist!)

(sloppy drunk pogo punx attack from USA. You will definitely want to form a band after hearing this!)

05. LAS OTRAS - Tragedia (Devolver El Golpe LP)
(angry and pissed. Hardcore punx as fuck. Feminist punk band from Spain.)

It's approaching the end of March and things are getting even busier than ever! Luckily I have a special guest contributor, Gary Hostage, who's willing to part his time for this month's Heartattack. Apart from abusing his bass on Vague and also performing individually as Gary Hostage (not sure if this particular project is still on), he also dabbles in his own independent enterprise to organize shows and such. This time, he will be sharing to us few of his favorite Canadian bands. I do hope that you enjoy this mix as much as I do.

I feel excited when Jan asked me to contribute for his reputably heart attack program because it has been a while since I occupy myself with music compiling activities (making mixtape).
This mix focuses on "Cancon" (Canadian content) so here you have it! Several Canadian tunes, ranging from hardcore to polka which (hopefully) would please your hearing senses. Oh, in case you are wondering, I don't put great and notable Canadian bands like Fucked Up, DOA, or Japandroids because they have enough exposure already. Courtesy of Gary Hostage; you are welcome.

Welcome to the 12th installment of Heart Attack in this busy month of February! Aside from busting my ass at work and also playing music, lately I'm in the mood for heavier and groove-oriented hardcore. Back in my junior high school, I remember this one time when I strolled around local tape store and came across Madball "Look My Way", I think it was released by roadrunner. On the first listen, I was completely floored and stunned by how much groove and intensity that Madball brought to the table. Since that day, I began discovering bands like Biohazard, Dog Eat Dog, Life of Agony and such...which eventually leads to a more contemporary bands like Terror, No Warning up until recent band like Turnstile (nonstop feeling is crazy good!). You know, one thing about hardcore, it's sort of like hit or miss, when you do things right they will come out really dope, otherwise all you get is a pool of generic hardcore bands that try to sound heavy yet failing miserably. Enclosed are some of the songs that has been stuck in my ears, these songs really kick off so much memories of hanging out with friends, going into their practice space and simply loving hardcore. Last but not least, enjoy!
