Mental

Instrumentals are the backbone of any Hip Hop song. They not only provide emcees with the room to express their creativity, but also establishes the mood and rhythm in which the listeners will enjoy. For me, the steady rhythm of instrumentals are relaxing, and at times as tense as these (or perhaps its just me?), a bit of relaxation helps clear the mind. This is an instrumental mix I created a while back but never released. I hope you enjoy playing this selection, and if you're feeling creative, do freestyle over it. Have Fun!

Red Eye

As I was making this mix, the term "Red Eye" suddenly came to mind (for no apparent reason, really). Three things come to mind when I think of red eye: one, an early morning flight (red eye flight), two, a Candiria song (Red Eye Flight), and three, the double espresso and black coffee combination we used to serve at the bakery I worked at (called a red eye). This time the mix is filled with music that I believe are quite soothing, a little bit energetic, but never spastic - something that can hold you attention but will make for great background music as well. I hope you enjoy it! 01. Yusef Lateef - Love Theme From The Robe 02. Osmar Milito - Regra Três 03. Masta Ace - Hold U 04. Maki Asakawa - ??? 05. Nina Simone - Just Like a Woman 06. Heart Attack

Vol. 4: Rudy Wicaksono (Wicked Suffer)

On the 4th instalment of Heart Attack, we have Rudy Wicaksono. Coming all the way from Jogjakarta, he’s also primarily known as the lead member of Wicked Suffer, Jogja’s very own force of nature. On this episode, he will be sharing to us his current favorite jams. From oi, punk, hardcore and all the way to post-punk, Rudy will take us on an intimate journey to decode the mysterious nature of punk, where everything is sounded tribal, barbaric & brutally honest. These bands aren’t even from the 80s nor 00s, but the way they capture their specific sound is inevitably exquisite. As Rudy put it in his own words, “get on your chaos walk and smash some windows while you’re at it!” Tracklist: 01. Chain Rank - Chain Rank 02. The Repos - Losing High 03.
