Heart Attack

Vol.14: Anugrah Esa

How's everyone doing today? It's almost approaching the end of April & I still couldn't believe that we've already reached our 14th installment of Heartattack! This time we have a very special guest from Jakarta, Anugrah Esa. Aside from running Doombringer record label as well as playing in numerous punk bands such as Paralerpe and Lock Off (to name a few), Esa's also been involved in the local independent scene for quite sometimes. Whether it's writing zines, organizing shows, putting out records or performing in a band, Esa's love affair with punk and its subsidiaries won't show any sign of slowing down, just yet. So what would be better than to hear it straight from the man himself! It's time for some global chaos takeover! ------------------------------- Anugrah Esa: This is actually the first time I do mixtape or playlist. It was quite a strange feeling when Jan invited me to do a portion for Heartattack. I’ve been a regular listener of Maximum Rock ‘n Roll Radio, Profane Existence Radio, Sonic Overload Radio as well as other online radio. But to be the one who came up with the playlist, I’d never thought of that until now. So here you go, 21 songs that fill up my shitty mp3 player. These songs pretty much accompany me in the morning while facing a dirty combo of hangover and fucked up traffic, while in the evening it’s another combo of 8 hours of slavery work and another same old shit traffic. I hope you enjoy this until you run out of breath. Play it on maximum volume for maximum output 'cause we all know that your life’s a mess, you piece of shit! 01. INA SUBS - Punks United (Valid CS) (Still the boots. Spiky hair. Leather Jacket. Drunk everywhere. Jakarta punks from the 90‘s. Lousy vocals, bad english, punk attitude!) 02. BEER BELLY - Smash The Sober Punx (Smash The Sober Punx CS) (The title says it all. Japanese pogo punx band. With a drunken vocalist!) 03. FLEA BAG - Flea Bag (Flea Bag 2015 Demo CS) (sloppy drunk pogo punx attack from USA. You will definitely want to form a band after hearing this!) 04. SAVAGEHEADS - Starve (Demo CS) (If you like The Partisans, you will love Savageheads. If you don’t like The Partisans, you will love Savageheads. Boston’s best UK82 shit!) 05. LAS OTRAS - Tragedia (Devolver El Golpe LP) (angry and pissed. Hardcore punx as fuck. Feminist punk band from Spain.) 06. SKIZOPHRENIA - Attack (This Fucking Skizophrenia! Still A Raped Ass EP) (Top notch raw punk from Japan. Crazy bass lines, energic drum beat, fucked up vocals. What else?!) 07. THE IDIOTS - Punks Dead I'm Dead (Living Comfort In Anarchy CS) (an athemic song. From one of the longest running hardcore punk band in Jakarta. Punks Dead I’m Dead!) 08. CRUTCHES - Mera (Lurad LP) (d-beat tsunami. Noisy swedish hardcore attack, with Japan’s mighty Disclose influence. Pretty cool people too.) 09. G.L.O.S.S. - G.L.O.S.S. (We're From The Future) (Demo CS) (in-your-face hardcore punx. A queer band with strong transgender politic statement. Best demo tape of this year! Girl! Living! Outside! Society! Shit!) 10. HOAX - Living On The Brink Of Suicide (Collected LP) (Hardcore that filled with hate. Manic vocalist, and killer riffs. I love the way the drummer play in this song.) 11. CONTRAST ATTITUDE - No Hope In There (Black Or White EP) (The noisemaster strike hard! If you don’t like them, i fucking hate you!) 12. SEX DWARF - I Mitt Huvud (Non Stop Erotic Noise Cabaret LP) (Full noise attack, distorted and buzzing swedish mangel to the new level!) 13. BULLETPROOF - Through The Darkness (V/A Earslaughter In 27.29 CS) (Darkened crust, repetitive beat, heavy riffs. One of my local fave!) 14. ANTIMOB - Αγανάκτηση Και Υποταγή (Self Titled LP) (One of the best Burning Spirit band outside Japan. Crazy song structure. So technically good.) 15. DIAGNOSIS? BASTARD! - Am I Stupid? Or Idiot! (Diagnosis? Bastard! #2 EP) (D-beat supergroup. Wild and frantic, rumbling loudly shouted hardcore, fast riffs, frantic screaming, chaotic drumming) 16. INFERNÖH - Lid (Split w/ NOMAD EP) (Raw and noisy Swedish mangel. A Perfect mix of Totalitar and Disclose.) 17. MAUSER - deterioration (Isolation LP) (Over the top noise d-beat. They really drive the drum forward and so massively involved. Framtid worshipper!) 18. D-CLONE - Weekendpunk (Creation And Destroy LP) (The nastiest, and noisiest d-beat fuckers in the world. Full distortions. Chainsaw guitars, fuzzy bass, relentless drums, angry vocals. 666% chaos.) 19. ASPECTS OF WAR - Tomorrow Nothing (V/A Annihilation: Konton Crasher Omnibus LP) (Disclose. Disclose. Disclose. The name came from Disclose song. Noise d-beat from Boston. Disclose. Disclose. Disclose.) 20. UNA BESTIA INCONTROLABLE - Nou món (Nou món EP) (Primitive hardcore punk. Industrial hardcore punk. Experimental hardcore punk. Anarcho punk. Whatever. Their music is timeless, and enjoyable to most people. Anarcho punk from Spain.) 21. CRIMINAL DAMAGE - Anesthesia (Self Titled LP) (A song to close this mixtape session. Member of Tragedy playing Blitz-esque punk rock. Catchy, anthemic, and always political.)

This episode marks the first Fat Cat Ffonz edition to feature gibberish interviews at the start of the mix as a slick (and dumb) way to avoid the Soundcloud copyright laws. Heart Attack

Vol. 13: Gary Hostage

It's approaching the end of March and things are getting even busier than ever! Luckily I have a special guest contributor, Gary Hostage, who's willing to part his time for this month's Heartattack. Apart from abusing his bass on Vague and also performing individually as Gary Hostage (not sure if this particular project is still on), he also dabbles in his own independent enterprise to organize shows and such. This time, he will be sharing to us few of his favorite Canadian bands. I do hope that you enjoy this mix as much as I do. -- I feel excited when Jan asked me to contribute for his reputably heart attack program because it has been a while since I occupy myself with music compiling activities (making mixtape). This mix focuses on "Cancon" (Canadian content) so here you have it! Several Canadian tunes, ranging from hardcore to polka which (hopefully) would please your hearing senses. Oh, in case you are wondering, I don't put great and notable Canadian bands like Fucked Up, DOA, or Japandroids because they have enough exposure already. Courtesy of Gary Hostage; you are welcome. Tracklist: 01. Raised by Wolves - Rats are Gonna Die Tonight 02. The Dreadnoughts - Goblin Humppa 03. Bishops Green - Tumbling Down 04. Hassler - Retaliation 05. The Brains - Screaming 06. Invasives - Who You Are 07. Ought - The Weather Song 08. TV Freaks - Knife 09. Fashionism - Smash the State (With Your Face) 10. Knucklehead - Voice Among Us 11. Tranzmitors - Nervous Breakdown 12. Rum Runner - the Punks are Due on Maple Street
