Running has become a very popular sport in Indonesia. Not only does it excercise the body, it also creates an interaction between the runner and his surroundings. NusantaRun takes this interaction further by combining cross-country running with philanthropy, having participant trek through Indonesia and help put kids through school.
How does NusantaRun work? When you register for the run, the money will be donated to a foundation to help fund the education of underpriviliged children. This year, NusantaRun is working with Yayasan Pemimpin Anak Bangsa (YPAB), a non-profit organization with programs ranging from grade school through high school.
The location of the run changes at every event. Living up to its name (Nusantara meaning archipelago), the event has runners go through sections of Indonesia, and if you participate in all of the NusantaRun, you will have pretty much circled the whole country. The first NusantaRun was a 53.5 kilometer run from Jakarta to Bogor, which succeeded in accumulating 137 million Rupiahs – directed to Yayasan Care 4 Kids Indonesia. This time, the run will have participants trek from Bogor to Bandung.
Chapter 2 of NusantaRun will happen 20-21 of December. Do visit the links below to find out how you can be a part of it.
