Nike Innovates with Nature

As you may have known from our Facebook, Twitter or Instagram account, our editor in chief, Max Suriaganda, has the rare opportunity to visit Nike Headquarter at Beaverton, Oregon. Representing Whiteboard Journal and our affiliates (Footurama and Studio1212), Max has the chance to see the exclusive preview of their next campaign and the unveiling of new running technologies.

Nike has been acknowledged as one of the leading companies in sport apparel industry through their effort in creating new innovations. Last Wednesday, they introduced two new footwear innovations, the Nike Free Flyknit – running shoes that will give you a second-skin fit – and Nike Free Hyperfeel, running shoes with thin layer so it can mimic the motion of human foot. Another two innovations Nike launched are new apparel technologies in Aeroloft and Dri-FIT. Aeroloft will keep athlete warm with the laser cut holes that is body-mapped to maximize mobility and warmth while Dri-FIT – consisting of Knit, Touch and Wool options – is capable of keeping athletes dry and comfortable by moving sweat away from the skin. All these new innovations are led by Nike’s ‘Nature Amplified’ design ethos, an approach combining athlete’s insights and extensive research in their 16,000 square-foot Nike Sport Research Lab (NSRL) at their headquarters. In his speech yesterday, Trevor Edwards, the Executive Vice President of Global Brand Management, mentioned that, “If you have a body, you’re an athlete.” So be it an Olympic runner or a laid-back couch potato, Nike aim to help athletes to reach their ultimate potential so they can “…run faster, jump higher, or train longer.”

You can get the Aeroloft apparel at Nike store around you but you have to wait until September for the Dri-Fit array of apparel. The Nike Free Flyknit will be available globally starting August 1 and will cost you $160 while The Nike Free Hyperfeel requires more waiting as it will only be available starting September 5 with $175 price tag.
