Aneka Disco Barat

Blasting charts from the past with this compilation of Indonesia disco gems when classic disco was sweeping over the musical landscape. Most are cover of popular songs with cheeky lyrics and definitely lots of Bee Gees and Boney M. Some are made into children's songs sung in a chipmunk voice. One Way Ticket has never sounded this curious. 1. Ratu Pinggul - Marini & The Steps 2. Ku Ingin Hidup - Melky Goeslaw 3. Sepatu Roda & Oh Jakarta - Tom & Jerry 4. Berdansa - The Big Kid's 5. Designers’ Response: Jakarta City

Last Saturday, Coworkinc in Kemang became the place for graphic designers to see the works of their peers in an exhibition titled Designer's Response: Jakarta City. Organized by ADGI Jakarta, the exhibition featured the works of 10 designers responding to the conditions in Indonesia's capital city. Opened by head of ADGI Jakarta chapter Rege Indrastudianto, at about 7 PM the exhibition was officially opened and throngs of graphic designers curiously observed each poster and the issues that the designers wanted to address. There were various topics discussed in the exhibition. Cecil Mariani's "Upacita" proposed a platform for a sustainable economy, Agra Satria's "Siapa Suru Datang Djakarta" presents his love and hate relationship with Jakarta as a city full of gritty hardships and opportunities, Henricus Linggawidjaja's "Dilarang Kencingi Ibukota" addresses the city's congestion by creating a poster devoid of text and doesn't force viewers to read or understand its content, while DGI talks about the role of graphic designers in Jakarta in their "Lending Vision" poster. It is quite interesting to see which issues the designers decided to raise, their response, and their style of choice in presenting their ideas. The exhibition continues until the 11th of April, do make your visit and see these designers' visions.
