“Youth”: Bedchamber’s Prelude to Perennial E.P

Formed near the end of 2013, bedchamber is a Jakartabased unit offering sounds mostly unheard of in Indonesia’s current independent music scene. As a generation largely influenced, shaped, even nurtured by the internet, Ratta (vocals/guitars), Abi (guitars), Smita (bass), and Ariel (drums) met through mutual concerns of being young today. Draining as it is, it sparked in them the certainty and spirit to huddle through the phase together—as a band. Their doubts and worries then manifest themselves as an introductory number quite matter-of-factly titled “Youth”. “Youth” speaks of man’s lack of preparedness upon being met by a new decade of his life. This premise is further intensified by bedchamber’s music, evoking feelings of happiness, yet not without a tinge of somber melancholy set off by the realization that the happiness is fleeting. “This song puts us in a limbo,” Smita remarks, “between ages and different feelings while facing the close of teenagehood.” This single is one out of five tracks adding up to bedchamber’s debut EP titled Perennial, to be released under Kolibri Rekords in both CD and digital format at the end of September 2014. The tracks were recorded in July through August of the same year, “Youth” being the second track of the EP. “Youth” was officially released on September 5 through deathrockstar(dot)club exclusively, and can be played and downloaded freely on bedchamber’s Soundcloud page. An Eclectic Introduction to Sajama Cut’s Latest Album

One thing that could underline the wide scope of exploration Sajama Cut is the figure of Marcel Thee as the vanguard of their eclectic discography. Indie rock, noise pop, ambient, folk-rock, baroque pop, lo-fi to electronics are various genres of music that have been explored by Sajama Cut. 4 years later, after the album "Manimal", Sajama Cut is preparing their 4th album. The new thing that will be explored in the fourth album is the involvement of Sajama Cut’s personnel. As said by Banu, Sajama Cut’s drummer, "we all have different influences, and we continue to explore new music, from any era. There has never been the same Sajama Cut album from time to time. And the most challenging aspects of this album are how it will show us the integrity of Sajama Cut as a band." Not only that, this fourth album will also involve wide-scale artistic presentation that will be done with Sajama Cut’s artistic peers, including video art, paintings, illustrations, poetry, to short films. And with these concepts, Sajama Cut with Elevation Records as a label-which plans to release the album in a variety of formats, has also been preparing a series of eclectic introduction teasers. In this latest teaser video, Sajama Cut again gave a little excerpt from one of the new songs that will be released in the 4th album, along with spoken words from their friends Chris Holms, who read out the pieces of the lyrics of some of the new songs. Those who have keen hearing will capture some of the titles of the new songs from the speech.
