Di dalam program “Things We Like”, kami mengumpulkan hal-hal yang sedang disukai oleh tim Whiteboard Journal berikut alasannya. Dari video live session New Order di BBC Radio, gerai es krim dengan rasa beragam, TV series milik Bill Hader hingga restoran yang menyajikan ayam goreng saus buffalo, berikut adalah “Things We Like” dari minggu keempat September.

The Roast of Alec Baldwin
Description:
Ini adalah hari-hari yang berat. DPR makin ngaco, Papua berdarah, kaum kanan yang oportunis, sedangkan pemerintah sibuk berpura-pura seolah-olah semua baik-baik saja. Karena itu, weekend kemarin berusaha cari hiburan yang sedikit menenangkan kepala. Coba nonton “Midsommar”, tapi kurang bisa menikmati. Akhirnya lari ke Youtube nonton channel Comedy Central. Di sana sedang banyak potongan dari acara “Roast of Alec Baldwin”. Nonton hampir semua video dan mayan terhibur. Memang nonton orang dikata-katain adalah obat mujarab di era sulit seperti sekarang ini. Yang seru, salah satu tamu roasternya adalah Caitlyn Jenner yang cukup banyak kena tampol akibat hipokrasinya sebagai transpeople Republican yang milih Trump kemarin.
Paling nampol adalah sesi Chris Redd dan Jeff Ross. Tonton jika butuh pelarian dari hidup yang makin melelahkan.

Description:
O shit. Ini enak banget. Tahu pertama kali karena lihat story Ghina. Lalu suatu weekend gue impulsif samperin tempatnya. Being the only customer that time, gue tanya sama mbak yang layanin, “Yang recommended apa?” Dijawab Buffalo Chicken Burger. Tapi pas lihat menu ternyata ada opsi spicy. Gue tanya lagi, mana nih yang favorit? Dijawab spicy. Ya udah, bungkus.
Setelah gigitan pertama: uenak pol! Ayam juicy, bumbunya menggigit lidah, rotinya pas. Intinya wholesome meal lah. Tapi sayang kurang banyak pickle. Lalu karena beli di bulan September jadi ada promo free fries! Makan sampai jari belepotan dan kepedesan gitu, tapi nikmat. Next time mau coba yang lain, kalau bisa semua sih. Tapi nggak mungkin langsung dalam 1 kunjungan karena nanti sakit perut, lol.
Buat Mas Naufal pacarnya Suzy K, bikin menu fried pickled dong~
Saran gue buat yang mau coba, jangan langsung pesan spicy kalau nggak kuat.

Penampilan New Order di BBC Radio tahun 1984
Description:
Gue abis bongkar menu liked videos di akun YouTube gue, terus pas lagi nge-scroll liat ada video ini dan otomatis lah gue play. Selain karena “Age of Consent” adalah lagu favorit gue, tapi yang menarik dari video ini adalah penampilan dari Bernard Sumner dan Stephen Morris yang super ikonik!!! Gila sih moment Bernard Sumber ngebuang busa mic dan permainan drumnya Morris yang menurut gue ENERGETIK BANGET!

Description:
Gave this series a try because people across all social media platforms couldn’t stop talking about it ever since it came out. AND I LOVE IT RIGHT A WAY. Love all the characters, even Gwyneth Paltrow’s character is interesting as hell. Love how the show pokes fun on America’s gun problem, mental health, the current political climate, the 1%, how easy it is to get into Harvard if you have $$$, gender identity, Munchausen by proxy storyline, class divide, how brutal high school competitions are, and so on.
By the way, Ryan Murphy sama Brad Falchuk pernah istirahat gak sih?

Description:
Dari awal nonton trailer-nya, I could just tell I would love it, and I did! It’s like Robin Hood but with strippers. I love that the production was fully female led!!!! It’s empowering to see movies with strong and diverse female leads in it. Plus J-LO’s in it man… J-LO!!!!! I’ve never watched a J-LO movie I didn’t LOVE, so that’s a given. All in all, this movie really spoke to my inner scammer. Pole dancing class, anyone?

I am by no means a cook. I think the concept of combining protein with salt, fat, acid, and heat is nothing short of *alchemy*. Therefore, I have no intention of checking out, or subscribing to the famed New York Times Cooking section. I simply do not entertain myself with the aspirations I will not be able to fulfill. Also, I get hungry looking at food.
However! Through some sheer internet serendipity (@alisoneroman) I came across this fabulous instagram account: a collection of the best comments on the NYT Cooking section. These home cooks are savage, y’all. They take serious offense with even the mildest suggestions of ingredient substitutions (WE HATE TOFU). Their life is a rollercoaster between running errands and rescuing their pot of Bolognese sauce from the hungry labrador. Move aside, Kitchen Confidential. Now this is the kind of rock and roll foodie lifestyle I should look up to.

Kemarin dikasih tahu sama @avindy tentang nama es krim ini dan lgsg ter-influence ~~mereka kemarin ikut buka pop up store di acara @semasaid balai kota. Gue cobain 2 rasa dari 2 jenis es krim mereka, tapi sayang cuman 1 yang gue suka. Surprisingly, gue suka yang sorbet, biasanya gue gak akan suka karena cenderung asem tapiiiii Rose Raspberry Sorbet stick-nya mereka YA ALLAH nyesel akutuuuu cuman beli satu dengan harga 22k. Any waaay menurut gue worth of 4.7/5 stars.

Setelah mendengarkan Abbas berkali-kali merekomendasikan seri ini, akhirnya gue mulai nonton juga karena mulai kehabisan tontonan di Netflix.
All I can say after binge-watching the whole first season throughout the weekend is that “Barry” is highly entertaining yet heartbreaking at the same time. Bill Hader has proven us that he is truly a comedic genius, and this series reminded me of why I love him back since his SNL days.
SELAIN ITU, pemenang karakter favorit gue dari season pertama adalah the lovely NoHo Hank, yang dimainkan dengan sempurna oleh Anthony Carrigan. He is a character that you would expect coming from Hader’s imagination, and more.
