Depositphotos telah meluncurkan dua koleksi foto gratis berjudul The truth about Russia’s war in Ukraine, dengan cuplikan-cuplikan gambaran situasi di Ukraina pada saat ini, dan International rallies in support of Ukraine, yang menunjukan dukungan-dukungan internasional yang tengah diberikan kepada Ukraina. Kedua koleksi tersebut diperbarui setiap hari dan dapat diakses oleh siapapun, walaupun Vadim Nekhai, vice president VistaCreate dan Depositphotos, mengatakan kepada Forbes bahwa tujuan awal aksi ini adalah, “to send a message to all of the Russian people what’s really happening.”

Untuk lebih lanjut menekankan pesan ini, Vadim Nekhai pun mengirimkan email untuk menyebarkan koleksi ini dengan permintaan spesifik berikut untuk penindakan aksi konkret:

– Watch news from reputable international media.
– Call your friends and relatives in Ukraine.
– Find out the situation first hand.
– Spread ONLY truthful information.
– Go out to the streets of your cities with peaceful protests, say ‘No to war!’ – as loudly as possible.

“Even if a small percentage of our clients or users will actually listen, it will help,” ujarnya. Ia menjelaskan bahwa platform tersebut tengah mendapatkan reaksi bercampur, dengan satu sisi orang-orang yang mengerti, dan orang-orang yang mengajukan protes akibat ketimpangan informasi yang Depositphotos berikan dengan informasi yang diberikan di Rusia. 

Selain Depositphotos, aplikasi face-swapping berbasis Kyiv, Reface, pun telah melakukan upaya mereka untuk melawan censorship di Rusia dengan mengirimkan push alerts kepada sekitar 2 juga pengguna aplikasi mereka di Rusia dengan pesan, “Russia has invaded Ukraine.”

“We understand that Russia has limited access to trustworthy media sources so we sent push notifications to all Russian users showing the real situation, and encouraging people to protest,” ujar CEO Reface, Dima Shvets.

Nekhai menambahkan pada email-nya, “We urge you to please not close your eyes to what is going on! This bloody war is not only a threat to the freedom of Ukraine, it is a direct threat to freedom of speech, finance, and movement. The threat to the identity of each of you, each citizen of Russia, who did not start this war, but will continue to do nothing.
