Air Max Day will enter its fifth year of celebration on the 26th of March 2018. As a day that honours the game-changing technology known as the visible air, which ultimately drove the footwear design and technology forward, we had a chat with Chooee of the style and subculture publication Streething, asking about his top 5 Nike Air Max to date. Ranging from the 95s to last year’s VaporMax collaboration with Comme Des Garcons, here’s what he had to say about Air Max for this special episode for Gimme 5!
Air Max 95 Neon
To me this is the Air Max model that started influencing all street and sneakers culture. The Japanese went crazy over them and the rest followed
Air Max 97
Again another timeless model that was inspired by the bullet train of Japan hence the name silver bullet. The design was so ahead of time when the shoes was released in 97, they still look futuristic now.
Air VaporMax x Comme des Garcons
The team behind Comme des Garcons was smart enough to remove the laces from the Vapormax and from then on I believe all VaporMax should be made without the laces. Also this is one pair of Air Max that I wear the most often
Air Max Plus black on black
I love all-black sneakers and I love the claw design on Air Max Plus
Air Max Wavy Hardaway III
This non-running Air Max has both the design and the functionality of the air bubble on the heel for better basketball movement support. Most of the Nike Air Max designed back in the 90’s are simply ahead of time
