The presentation of Goenawan Mohamad’s poem Don Quixote is, at its core, a poetry reading with elements of literature, theater, music, and animation. Landung R. Simatupang and Niniek L. Karim are the narrators, while Adra Karim and Sri Hanuraga will use music to read Goenawan Mohamad’s poems on the same stage. At the same time, the figure of Don Quixote will be visualized through sand-painting, projected onto a big screen. Taken together, these elements create an integral reading without dominating one another. Instead, they come together as an inter-disciplinary poetic presentation.
Don Quixote is a collection of poems by Goenawan Mohamad published in 2011. Goenawan has reread and recreated Cervantes’s work, thus adding to existing interpretations of Don Quixote from around the world.
