In this presentation and discussion program, ruangrupa invites Mitu M. Prie, an archaeologist who is mostly known in communication industry, especially advertising and also actively working in arts and culture networking community. Mitu M. Prie will share his experience and knowledge based on his findings in visual artifacts from centuries ago when he was travelling to many places in the archipelago, like Sumatera island, Java island, Papua island, and Sumba island.
Culture is a social and nation identity. Migration, trade, communication, creativity, and politics influence the direction of cultural development. Now, local culture systems surrounded by modern culture. Modern social order more or less determined by economic system, education, technological control, and so on. But, “Visual trip” along the way actually will remain binding with the quality of history and the future existence.
This time, the discussion is all about revealing our local visual culture as an inspirational source and knowledge, which could be developed further by artists and writers to create new inventions for now and in the future.
