Comics and cartoons have grown from its ancient forms on temple walls into comic strips in social media. In its ever-evolving form, and alongside developments in printing and communication technologies, comics and cartoons are able to convey anything—from ideologies, social critique, tales, to environmental issues. Comics and cartoons also entertain us with their characters—the heroic or the anti-hero, the funny ones, even the eccentric.
This seminar will discuss the nature of cartoons in mass media and social media, especially those connected to the political sphere. This seminar will also bring together observers, analysts, researchers, and readers of comics and cartoons, allowing them to exchange information and knowledge surrounding comics, cartoon, and media.
Open to public. RSVP by July 12, 2013.
