MUSIKINI presents OPERA GANDARI, an opera by Tony Prabowo, directed by Melati Suryodarmo with art director Jay Subyakto on 14-15 December at Graha Bakti Budaya, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta.

Opera Gandari tells a story of five days before Gandari, a goddess, decided to blindfold her eyes with black piece of cloth, as an act of empathy to her blind husband, Destarastra while at the same time  mourning for  the death of her sons, Kurawa in Kurusetra battle field. This excerpt from Mahabharata epic written in poetic form by Goenawan Mohamad is taken as an intriguing and exceptional cross-disciplinary art collaboration with new perspective of  woman and mother  through sound, motion and visual art symbols.
