Old Monk
By Ayesa Vawandia, February 6, 2012 · 276 views

If you are one of some people who tired with the fact that our music industry is kind of dominated by the same songs, then you might want to listen this new band from Brooklyn, Old Monk!

Influenced by 90s alt-rockers, Pavement, Old Monk is an independent band consisting of 3 members:  Josh (lead vocals also guitarist), Ian (drummer), and Tsugumi (bassist). Last month, they just released “Birds of Belize” as their debut full-length album under Eeenie Meenie Records label. There are fifteen songs in the album and 3 available songs (Sacred Birds, Butter & Toast and Warm Moustache) to download on their website. Old Monk’s songs somehow sound like Pavement-ish, but a little touch of a pop makes you just want to jam with their songs. Josh’s vocal matches really well with drumbeats and bass strums played by Ian and Tsugumi

Go check out Old Monk on: Website, Facebook, and Soundcloud. BUY their album and support them!
