Indomie can be said as the second staple food after rice for fellow Indonesians. A dish way too familiar for striving college students alike and a 3-minute life saver for those bearing their own monetary crisis.

To pay homage to one the best things since slice bread, here are a few random facts about Indomie:

-  Indomie is quite known in Nigeria and it is closely considered to be their staple food (My friend who works in  Nigeria confirmed me with this fact, read more here). Strangely, they have a habit of cooking their Indomie with plantain which is a type of banana used for desserts.

- There is an Indomie Noodles Apprecition Society page on Facebook, which believe or not were not originally made by an Indonesian.

- Indomie also sponsors its own Indomie Fan Club for Nigerian children by the age of 5 – 12, where it’s vision is to create an emotional bond between the child and the product that last a lifetime. (In other words, brainwashing the children)

- Indomie is now distributed worldwide to Australia, Asia, Africa, the United States and European and Middle Eastern countries (with of course a higher retail price)

- In 2005, Indomie broke the Guinness Book of World Records category for “The Largest Packet of Instant Noodles”, creating a packet that was 3.4m x 2.355m x 0.47m, with a net weight of 664.938 kg, which is about 8,000 times the weight of a regular pack of instant noodles.

Having tried all kinds of noodles from different nations, I, representing my own appreciation of Indomie solemnly swear that nothing compares to the pleasure of an Indomie Goreng (Fried Indomie) added with fried egg, with corned beef and maybe with an unhealthy dose of cheese.
