I’ve been eager to post something about the Obama’s branding even before Mr. Obama won the election cause for me, the Obama’s campaign is one of the best branding example out there today. Alas i’ve never found the amount of time to actually wrote an in-depth review on the campaign from a designer’s angle of course but worry not since Mr. Scott Thomas, the design director of the Obama campaign, has collaborated with artists and designers to create this book titled “Designing Obama“, a chronicle of the art and design from the historic campaign. The 360-page book is full color and hard-bound, highly crafted with an embossed sleeve with forewords written by Steven Heller and Michael Bierut. For us here in Indonesia, we’ll probably have to wait for the next election to see whether our politicians will try the same approach using a right and well executed branding strategies instead of a plagiarism campaign, fingers crossed then.
