Apple has Microsoft as its opponent, so when Apple had launched iPhone it became a breakthrough in the smartphones movement. Microsoft wasn’t even close in creating a competing device worthy of a buzz. Not until the recent introduction to Windows 7 phones that will soon be aligned with already existing smartphones.
Although it won’t be released until the end of the year, Microsoft is giving us a head sneak on both visual and technical aspect of the device. The Windows 7 phone device includes deep social network integration with a taste of Zune HD service. The interface brings a new experience as the text and graphics is oversize set in bright, squared tiles that fill the screen. It’s as easy as flipping, panning, scrolling, zooming from screen to screen. One review actually said that typography was phenomenal, with Microsoft raising the bar on their already fantastic ClearType.
The highlight of the phone is set in their social network integration where the phone is organized in a set of hubs: People, Pictures, Games, Music + Video, Marketplace, and Office. Allowing you to update short status or messages for Facebook Applications or Windows live. Moreover, it’s confirmed that there will be Xbox application included on the phone, which probably will win the hearts of gamers.
CEO of Microsoft, Ballmer stated “There is no doubt that the phone market is highly competitive, highly dynamic, super-exciting,” he said. “There was no question in our minds… that we needed and wanted to do something that was out of the box, clearly differentiated from our past and clearly differentiated from other things that are going on in the market.” “We’re taking a big step,” he added. “I hope seven’s our lucky number.”
We will just have to see whether Microsoft will get lucky this time.
