R+I Creative presents to you “The Pursuit Of Cool”, a short series about hedonism, sharing and meeting cool people with stories. This short series will expose the people who will share their stories in life and how they are cool not because of what they have, but by how they achieve it. Some of the series has been uploaded to their vimeo account, one of them is on Savoia, the tailor, who since he was young, had prepared his father’s garments for his job. He learned the term ‘cool’ through his father’s dressing rituals and the ‘magic’ that is his father. And another video is on Coltrane Curtis, who talks about the influence of Jazz musicians on his personal style, both describes that to be cool you don’t need the recognition from everyone, being cool doesn’t always means following trends or what brand you wear, its how you wear it and define yourself through it. Now that’s cool.

We wont bore you with more concept-car clichés, instead we bring you this – behold the DICE (Dynamic and Intuitive Control Experience) concept by Mercedes-Benz. This maverick model is too cool for wires and buttons. It’s even to cool to be touched, it utilizes gesture motions for our greedy commands.

As you drive, imagine as if the air around you is a smartphone. You control the system by the command of your hand motions. The DICE system displays GPS, traffic data, social networking, media playback and pretty much everything else you get in your smartphone or tablets, but you get it all in your set of wheels. However, the full LED system is it’s ace. Projected in the clear glass windscreen in a three dimensional view, it offers an outer space futuristic feel around it. The DICE system looks to be set in a white cube shaped car that looks to be fully automated.

It’s a great concept, but let’s face it – we wont get it on the streets soon. This type of technology looks set for the 2050s but lets hope Mercedes-Benz could launch it sooner. Nonetheless, it’s a great concept for our grandchildren.

As part of Camel Active’s Spring/Summer 2012 preview of their collections, they decided to take on the road and go through the depths of Indonesia. Guided beautifully through the direction of Director, Martin Friedrich, we are taken to the familiar locations of Yogyakarta and the impressive scenery of Flores Island, from places as Mt. Bromo, Kraton Area, to Harbor Yard. James Bond – probably the coolest, most baddest fictional British secret agent in television history.

January 2012 marked the 50^th anniversary of the pinnacle movie series. There are many fond memories of it, but besides the witty screenwriting and passionate romance, the series could be famous for their jaw-dropping car selections.

As a tribute to the brilliant array of classy automobiles comes Bond in Motion, ‘50 years, 50 Vehicles’. Aston Martin, Jaguar, Lotus, Rolls Royce are only four of many car manufacturers that appeared in the James Bond series throughout history. The car collection of Bond in Motion is displayed at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, Hampshire U.K, which also marks the 40^th anniversary of the museum.

If you are one of thousand people who are blocking their website in order to show the disappointment with PIPA/SOPA policy (the American government attempt to block a website, if the website had violated copyright regulations), then you must know about Engine Advocacy and why they are important.

Engine Advocacy stated their mission on the website, “Our mission is to create an environment where technological innovation and entrepreneurship thrive by educating, collaborating, and involving startups in shaping policy”. One of their recent action is taking part against censorship policy in United States or well-known as PIPA/SOPA by let the senators to listen people’s disagreement about this policy.

So, two days ago, in order to show their expression about PIPA/SOPA, Engine Advocacy post a video on their website titled “Our Internet”. This video features entrepreneurs in NYC, such as Scott Belsky (CEO of Behance), Harry Heymann (Foursquare), and Aaoron Harris (Tutor Spree) who tell you about how they started their business, their motivations, and why censorship policy like PIPA/SOPA can threaten their extension as entrepreneurial on online business.

Their purpose from the video is no other than to protest against PIPA/SOPA policy also to tell the watchers that these entrepreneurs’ role are really important for the bright future of United States’ economy; the higher the entrepreneurial rate in a country, the more prosperous it is.

Edwin who is known for its old wash designed denim, just launched a new short duration movie on their website to show their dedication towards Japanese’s cultures also the simplicity of their denim.

The purpose of this short film is to promote short clips on the production process of Edwin denim in the manufacture. The clips also features people behind the product (mechanics, tailors, designers). This video also shows the relation between Edwin denim and Japanese environment and its cultures. You can watch it in the film where they show glimpse of the buildings in Japan, the Buddha statues, and the Japanese citizens.

With this short film, Edwin Europe tries to tell the customers that this product can’t be successful without the help from people behind the product, as well as Japan’s environment and cultures which is a big influence of this product.

After Nico Novito’s Just A Thought on religious freedom in Indonesia, TED talk recently uploaded Alain De Botton’s thought on Atheism, he explains in his 19 minutes talk that Atheist often find themselves ridiculing the thought of religion, saying that religious belief are in par with believing in fairies. With this talk, he invites everyone to open up a new idea of Atheism, in which he calls Atheism 2.0, a newer understanding, based on the idea that you don’t necessarily have to cut yourself off the richest source of religion, but to built a form of appreciation to what religion has succeeded throughout centuries, and one of it by becoming a strong collaborative community, or a successful brand and identity that are fighting for the things of the mind, things he concludes are not always achievable by the modern ways of teaching.

Again, this TED Talk is an open forum of discussion, already in 13 hours since its upload, disagreeing comments had conjured from both extreme form of believers and non-believers alike. So, do make time to watch the video, and find out whether you find his thoughts debatable.

Charles Bukowski’s The Bluebird is a piece that translates the raw honesty of social outcasts and the quiet longings of the heart concealed under a tough and nonchalant exterior. This relateble poem is visualized below by Cambridge School of Art student Monika Umba, sharing to us a slowly pace montage of a man suppressing a caged bluebird – the symbolization of the heart -  and its calls to be heard and taken care of. Without the actual poem recited in the video, you will still find that the animation leaves us quietly grasping the dejected emotions while leading us to reflect on Bukowski’s moving piece and beautiful visualisation.
