Two years ago Damon Albarn, acting as the representatives for Gorillaz, cos Murdoc was …well..let’s all assumes he’s minding his own business, told NME that Gorillaz wouldn’t make any more pop records. But you know better than to take Damon’s word to heart as Murdoc would later state that Damon was acting on his own agenda cos Blur or whatever the bad and ugly was selling less than Gorillaz. And now five years after the release of their last record “Demon Days“, Gorillaz has announced their new LP titled Plastic Beach, due for release on March 9. A little peek into Plastic beach will be the first single “Stylo”, which features Mos Def and Bobby Womack, released on January 26th last week. Besides the two names mentioned before, the list of guests on this new LP will include Lou Reed, Gruff Rhys, De La Soul, Kano, Snopp Dogg, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon, Sinfonia VIVA, as well as The National Orchestra For Arabic Music. The story behind the new album goes something like this: “The band have taken up residence, recording on a secret floating island deep in the South Pacific, a Plastic Beach HQ, made up of the detritus, debris and washed up remnants of humanity. This Plastic Beach is the furthest point from any landmass on Earth; the most deserted spot on the planet.” Aha, at last, it all makes sense now!
