Ah yes, Sonny Rollins’ Saxophone Colossus. Ever since watching the brain melting yet highly interesting 20-hour PBS Jazz Documentary, where the album was mentioned in flowery tones, I’ve always pined to get my hands on the record. A trip down Concerto duly fulfilled my yearning as legendary jazz CDs these days tend to be dirt cheap (Saxophone Colossus & Horace Silver’s ‘Doin’ the thing’ cost me a mere €10).

The video above is perhaps the best know track from the 1956 album.
