Rob Reiner, the director of When Harry Met Sally (1989), Stand by Me (1986), the Bucket list (2007), is trying to re-achieve his golden moment like he has done for his previous movies. A comedy movie, Flipped, is based on a novel by Wandelin Van Draanen (2001). The film is set in the era of 60’s which unlike the novel, Reiner is trying to appeal the baby boomer audience, bolstering the nostalgia with a bland, and classic-rock soundtrack.
The plot of movie is about a first love story between Juli (Madeline Carroll) and Bryce (Callan McAuliffe) since they were in second graders. Juli is the first one who got a crushed on Bryce, while Bryce is still uncertain as he is such a girl phobic and shy boy. For the next six year, their story keeps continuing as they go to the same school and they live across from the street each other. In the eight grade, when Bryce grows up, he feels guilty to see his friends making fun of Juli. Lately, Bryce feels sympathy into Juli. From an ignorance and then a sympathy, his feeling flips into love.
This romantic comedy movie has been released in six big cities in US and Canada on 27 August 2010.
