Remember my post about Adam Beane? well i can say that this other dude here is kinda his counterpart though i must say that carving a wood seems harder than just molding a sculpture but i’ll let you all be the judge eh?

Gehard Demetz was born in 1972 in Italy although lately he spent his days in the mountains of Selva Gardena working on these amazing woodcarvings. There’s not much information i can gathered about this artist, though i’m sure all those information won’t matter once you’ve set your eyes on his absolutely marvelous wood sculptures, since it certainly will take your breath away anyway.

Gehard’s works seemed to arouse our imagination, at least for me. It made me wonder what are those children looking for, what’s the story behind their sad faces, what’s their hiding beneath, they look at you and it seems that they are demanding the justice for what’s done to them in the past. For sure Gehard Demet’s sculptures will leave you defenseless and begging for more. If any of you ever read Naoki Urasawa’s “Monster”, it seemed to me that these children might be part of the Kindreheim 511 orphanage.
