The Goethe-Institut Jakarta organises and supports a broad variety of events for the presentation of German culture abroad and for intercultural dialogue: From film festivals over classical, jazz or pop concerts to exhibitions, artists’ workshops, theatre or dance performances.

The GoetheHaus, the institution’s popular event venue in Jalan Sam Ratulangi in Menteng, offers a fully equipped auditorium with over 300 seats and a foyer gallery. It has become one of the city’s most important cultural hubs.

The Goethe-Institut Jakarta also offers German language classes in every level on weekdays and weekends, during the day and in the evening. Whether one needs to learn German for studying, a job abroad or visa purposes, the variety of classes will meet all needs. Students at the Goethe-Institut learn from highly skilled teachers with state of the art media. Moreover, the Goethe-Institut advises schools and educational institutions with German lessons all over Indonesia.

The information centre of the Goethe-Institut Jakarta holds plenty of novels, fact books, coffee table books, movies and CDs from and about Germany.

The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institution operational worldwide. It promotes the study of German abroad and encourages international cultural exchange. It fosters knowledge about Germany by providing information on its culture, society and politics. With a network of 150 Goethe-Instituts in 94 countries and a large number of Goethe Centres, cultural societies, reading rooms and exam and language learning centres, the Goethe-Institut has played a central role in the cultural and educational policies of Germany for 60 years. In Indonesia, the Goethe-Institut holds two more presences in Bandung and Surabaya.
